Okinawa is larger than many visitors expect. If your hotel is on the wrong side of the island, a fishing day can start with a one to two hour one-way transfer before sunrise.
Use this guide to match your stay area to the real departure ports used on this site: Chatan, Kadena and Awase.
Fishing charters leave early. A hotel area that feels convenient for shopping or nightlife can be inconvenient for a 04:00–06:00 meeting time.
For west-coast fishing from Chatan, Chatan Hamagawa or Kadena, choose a west-coast base if you can. For east-coast fishing from Uruma Awase Port, choose an east-side or central area if your schedule allows.
If you are not sure which port your plan will use, send your dates, group size and preferred fishing style before booking accommodation. The captain can advise which side is more practical for that week.

These areas are practical for west-coast private charters, including Amberjack Live Bait and many GT, tuna or jigging arrangements when the captain uses a west-coast port.
The shared fishing boat Okinawa experience departs from Kadena Fishing Port, runs about 2 hours and is built for first-timers and families.
Awase is on the east side. It can be the better departure side depending on wind, fishing ground and the plan selected by the captain.
Remote island charters are arranged by enquiry. Confirm the departure details before locking accommodation because the plan can depend on boat availability and fishing grounds.
For a fishing charter for 2-3 people, the departure port can matter as much as the plan price. Share your dates, group size, fishing experience and where you are thinking of staying.
We will confirm which departure side makes sense, whether the shared boat or private charter route fits your group, and what meeting point to expect.
If fishing is only one day of a longer Okinawa trip, you can still stay where you prefer — just plan the transfer time honestly.
Naha can work if you accept an early transfer, but it is not the closest base for Chatan, Kadena or Awase fishing departures. For early morning charters, staying closer to the departure side usually makes the day easier.
For Chatan, Chatan Hamagawa or Kadena Fishing Port, convenient areas include Chatan, American Village, Kadena, Yomitan, Onna and Ginowan. These keep the west-coast meeting points easier than staying far south or far north.
For Uruma Awase Port, convenient areas include Uruma, Awase and Okinawa City. Chatan can also work if you are comfortable crossing the island early.
